A little inland, north of Cabeço das Flores, is the charming picnic spot of Morenos. Beside jagged volcanic cliffs a thicket of confers, olives and Dragon Trees (all part of the local government’s reforestation program) offer shade and a touch of natural beauty. Wooden tables and palm-leaf umbrellas complete the picture, and there’s a view out to the teeny neighbouring lighthouse-island of Ilheu de Ferro.
