There’s always a bus waiting to meet the ferry, and take you from the port into Vila Baleira for €1. Apart from that, just six buses chug around the island, along the coast and inland. There’s one running on average every hour, with a timetable posted up on the car rental kiosk near the taxi rank on Avenida Dr Manuel Gregório Pestana Júnior. This is also the departure point for a tour bus that takes you on a two-hour drive around the island (daily at 2pm).
