Getting to Porto Santo

Porto Santo’s airport was extended on 28th August 1995 to accept international flights. SATA, the Portuguese airline, offers around 12 flights a day (depending on the season) between Funchal and Porto Santo, the flying time for which is around only 15 mins. During the summer season you may also find direct flights from some of the larger European airports including Gatwick, Lisbon and Porto.

The most popular way of getting to Porto Santo is by ferry, from Funchal on neighbouring Madeira. The boat usually leaves daily from Funchal (in the harbour, near Loo Rock) at around 8h00, and return around 18h00, though there are occasional variations according to season, and on Fridays to accommodate weekend traffic. Tickets cost around €50 for a return in low season, and €60 in high season.

You can check schedules, prices and book your tickets at Porto Santo Line.
