The North of the Island
The most isolated part of Porto Santo is its craggy northern coastline. Though touched at one point by the golf course, most of it – apart from strange rock formations at Fonte da Areia is unreachable by road. Inland you’ll find the village of Camacha, home to an intriguing museum of local artefacts. There’s a ban on any new building activity in the north of the island, and it’s a great spot for lonely, windswept walks.
